Bay City Discusses Road Improvement Projects and Millage Options

Approximately $2.5 million from the $5 million UBP account will be used for grant match opportunities and a sidewalk fund. Several project locations were proposed, including JFK Drive, North Monurro Street, East Monday Avenue, Germania Street, Franklin Street, and 15th Street, with final selections dependent on construction plans. Project selection criteria include traffic volume, probability of failure, roadway location, and potential for additional HUD funding for sidewalk improvements. The presentation also touched on the potential impact of local road millage, with one mill generating approximately $850,000 annually and two mills generating $1.7 million annually. The focus for millage will be on resurfacing roads with limited infrastructure impact.
