GCPS Holds First Millage Rate Hearing, Plans to Maintain Current Rates Amidst Property Value Increases
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) held the first of three public hearings regarding the fiscal year 2027 budget and the 2026 millage rate. The district plans to maintain the current millage rate of 18.7 mills for maintenance and operations and 1.45 mills for debt services. Despite no change in the millage rate, homeowners may see an estimated annual increase of approximately $25 on their tax bills due to potential increases in their home's appraised and assessed values. The presentation detailed the purpose of the millage rate, its contribution to the school budget, and provided context on county digest information and growth trends. The district also highlighted efforts towards property tax relief over the past several years, including reductions in the millage rate in 2023 and 2025. The final adoption of the millage rate is scheduled for August 3rd, 2026.
