City Authorizes Eminent Domain for Railroad Safety Improvements; Updates Provided on Major Roadway Projects

The Cascade Bridge project has a public meeting and survey available. ADA compliance for sidewalks on Fifth Street is causing configuration challenges due to the incline and cross slope.
City Council Approves Bond Sale for Capital Improvements and Maintains A+ Bond Rating
The City Council considered a resolution providing for the sale of bonds, setting parameters for the sale, and approving a bond purchase agreement and preliminary official statement. The bonds, totaling approximately \$16,750,000, will finance flood protection improvements, ambulance and public works vehicle acquisition, RecPlex field lighting (not to exceed \$400,000), and public infrastructure improvements for flood mitigation (not to exceed \$6 million). The preliminary official statement outlines the city's financial condition, legal obligations, and repayment security to investors. Edits to the statement include disclosures about future borrowing and the potential use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) revenues for debt service. The city received a stable A+ bond rating from S&P for these bonds.
Fire Department Announces Community Events, Groundbreaking for New Station, and Citizens Academy Applications
The Fire Department announced several upcoming events and opportunities. The first annual Fire and Splash Summer Bash is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th, offering free food, beverages, and giveaways. Groundbreaking for Fire Station 3 is set for July 29th.
