The budget also accounts for new positions, equipment replacements, and pre-funding for capital projects like the fire engine and servers. A taxpayer impact statement, a new state requirement, was also introduced, detailing median household income, tax rates, and estimated property tax based on homestead taxable value.
City Engineer Reports Progress on Multiple Utility Projects, Seeks $19.7 Million for Water Infrastructure Grants
The City Engineer provided updates on several ongoing and upcoming public works projects. Construction is underway for the Fourth Street ground storage tank, involving demolition of the old tank and construction of a new foundation, with water supply maintained through a bypass. The Spring Canyon Utility Extension sewer project is progressing, with excavation and placement of a wet well. A sidewalk project on 8th Street, funded by TxDOT, is nearing completion. The Phantom Creek water extensions are in the design phase to serve upcoming development, involving two looped water lines for improved pressure and capacity. The lumberyard sewer line project is resuming after design verification. New development in Unit 1 Phase 2 is progressing with utilities and earthwork. Spring Canyon Unit 4 is nearing completion with road paving and bridge construction.
