Chanhassen Amends 2026 Fee Schedule, Adjusts Burn Permit and Building Permit Fees
The Chanhassen City Council amended the 2026 fee schedule. This amendment included implementing fees for burn permits to align with code changes approved on June 22nd and adjusting building permit fees for emergency radio responder coverage. The previous formula for radio responder coverage resulted in excessively high charges that did not reflect staff workload, so a flat fee was introduced to better align with actual work output. The council adopted the amended fee schedule and approved the summary ordinance for publication with a 5-0 vote. Councilman Kimber moved to approve, and Councilman McDonald seconded.
Chanhassen Approves Vacation of West 94th Street Public Right-of-Way
The council considered the vacation of the public right-of-way of West 94th Street, located southeast of Bandamere on the east side of Highway 101 and Kiowa Trail. This 60-foot public right-of-way was platted in 1970 to serve as future street access to undeveloped farmland. The area was never improved and consists of a driveway and grass. The proposed vacation would split the right-of-way evenly between the adjacent properties to the north and south. The city would reserve a six-foot easement on either side of the center line to match the perimeter easements of the plat. Conditions for approval include the property owner at 694th Street West changing their address to Kiowa Trail, as 94th Street would no longer exist. The public hearing was opened and closed with no objections received. The council approved the resolution to vacate the right-of-way with a 5-0 vote, with Councilman von Oven making the motion and Councilwoman Schubert seconding.
