Township Opposes State Senate Bills Impacting Local Zoning Authority

Resolutions 26176 and 26177 oppose two Senate bills: S1836, which enhances the ability of religious and nonprofit organizations to convert property to inclusionary developments with affordable housing, and SB 1408, which would preempt local planning and zoning authorities to authorize conversion of office parks and retail centers to mixed-use developments. The township opposes these bills due to concerns about the loss of home rule and the desire for the township to maintain control over its own zoning decisions.
