STA Provides Updates on I-80/I-680/SR-12 Interchange Package 5 and Express Lanes Pilot
The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) presented an update on Package 5 of the I-80/I-680/SR-12 interchange project, which aims to create a partial interchange with SR-12 connecting Red Top Road to Business Center Drive. The project also includes widening Red Top Road under I-80 and exploring a connection at Nitil to Green Valley Road as an alternative to the more expensive Suisun Valley Road on-ramp. The estimated cost for Package 5 is $173 million, with design and right-of-way acquisition anticipated by the end of 2028, and construction starting in January 2029. An update on the I-80 Solano Express Lanes was also provided, detailing the three-year weekend operations pilot, its goals of managing congestion and generating revenue, and early observations indicating higher average speeds in both express and general-purpose lanes. Outreach efforts for the 'Express Lane Start' discount program were also highlighted.
Public Comment Features Calls for Accountability, Transparency, and Condemnation of Hate Speech
During public comment, several speakers addressed issues of transparency, accountability, and the conduct of public officials and processes. Ryan spoke at length about media and financial control, making controversial claims about Jewish people. Gil Handy expressed frustration with the handling of issues at Octtail soccer fields.
