Glasco Council Reviews Rezoning for Boys and Girls Club Expansion
The Glasco City Council conducted the first reading of an ordinance to rezone a 2.49-acre property at 801 Columbia Avenue from R1 (low-density residential) to B2 (general business). The applicant, Hchens Center for Children Inc. (Boys and Girls Club), intends to expand their facilities, including buildings and parking. The joint city-county planning and zoning commission unanimously recommended the change after a due process hearing on June 15th. Future development will require compliance with the development plan ordinance and landscape buffer requirements, with schematics and building layouts subject to review. Glasco Fire Department Declares Surplus Fire Truck for Sale

The resolution authorizes the disposal of this surplus property in accordance with KRS Chapter 82, with Mayor Royce authorized to execute any necessary actions. The method of disposition will be determined by applicable means, likely involving an auction through entities like Mills Auction, as suggested by the Fire Chief. This move allows the department to divest outdated equipment and utilize newer, more effective resources.
Glasco Announces Community Events, Website Launch, and Veterans Program
The Glasco City Council announced upcoming community events and initiatives. These include a Liberty Tree dedication ceremony on the courthouse lawn on Wednesday at 4:30 PM, involving the D and Team Kentucky and the Kentucky Historical Society. The new city website, launched at the beginning of the fiscal year, offers a more user-friendly experience with electronic form completion and online payment options. The Glasgow Veterans Banner program is accepting applications, with limited spaces available.
