The agreement includes new language for automatic renewal for subsequent three-year periods, requiring advance notification if the village chooses not to participate.
Village Board Approves Site Plan for Heritage Hen Collective Chicken Run
The Village Board considered and approved an application for site plan review for a chicken run associated with the Heritage Hen Collective at 881 West Grange Avenue. The applicant, Eron Dart, presented the plan for a fully enclosed chicken run connected to an existing building that will serve as the chicken coop. The plan addresses concerns about predators digging under (hardware cloth buried underground) and from above (enclosed top). The proposal also includes manual water provision and rainwater systems. The application was previously reviewed and recommended for approval by the Plan Commission, which also confirmed adequate parking and that the chicken run is not a major improvement. The applicant confirmed coordination with the health department regarding waste disposal and with the Historic Preservation Commission regarding coop refurbishment. The board approved the application, with the understanding that the coop and run would initially house 20 chickens, with capacity for up to 35.
Village to Apply for CDBG Funds for Senior Programs and Library Improvements
The Village Board approved a resolution authorizing staff to apply for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for two projects: adult program services for the Park and Recreation Department and the library's public study and conference room. The Park and Recreation Department's project is seeking $10,000, consistent with previous years. The library project, related to updating capital plans, is being considered for partial or full funding by CDBG staff, contingent on ADA accessibility. If full funding is not secured, the village will need to find an alternative source. Applications are due by Friday, with funding notification expected in early next year (February or March).
Temporary License Approved for Education Foundation's Greenale Summer Bash
The Village Board approved a temporary Class B license for fermented malt beverages for the Education Foundation of Greenale's 'Greenale Summer Bash' event on August 22nd, 2026. The event will be located on Schoolway. Trustee Unger and Trustee McFall recused themselves from discussion and voting due to their involvement with the Education Foundation and plans to attend the event as attendees, respectively. A motion to approve was made and seconded, and the license was granted.
Village Welcomes New Management Analyst and Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer
The Village Board was updated on new staffing. Kristen Craig will start in a couple of weeks as the new management analyst, taking over Sarah's former position. Craig brings experience from the private sector and previous roles in Wauwatosa and Oak Creek, with expertise in communications and administrative functions. She will begin her second day at the next board meeting and will be trained by Eric Sanders on the AV system. Additionally, Andrew Kray will join as a part-time code enforcement officer starting next week. Kray has extensive experience in code enforcement, having previously worked for the City of Milwaukee and currently serving full-time for the City of Wauwatosa.
