City Council Approves 2025 Financial Statements and Audit Findings

Community and Emergency Services Save Life During TERF Event
The Mayor shared a story about a man who suffered a catastrophic heart attack during a TERF event. Three individuals, Len Benning (TERF council member), Alexandra Herring (nursing student), and Alexander Polivka, immediately administered CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, keeping the man alive until paramedics and firefighters arrived. The man was transported to St. Luke's, where he underwent emergency cardiac surgery for a "widow maker" condition. The Mayor highlighted the competence and quick response of the city's emergency services and community members in saving the individual's life, emphasizing the value of city services despite potential tax increases.
Council Approves Fund Closures, Transfers, and Financial Schedules
The council approved several financial actions, including closing a capital improvement fund project account for Spring Wall and transferring the remaining balance to General Reserve. They also closed the special revenue ARPA fund (fund 150) and transferred its remaining balance to the general fund. Approval was also given for schedules of disbursements, mileage reimbursements, and investments/reinvestments. A motion to approve items 17 through 21 was made by Alderperson Sarion and seconded by Alderperson Kastner. All council members voted in favor.
Temporary License Approved for Farm to Fork Event; Parade License Granted to High School
The council approved a temporary Class B retailer's license for the partners of Greenfield Parks and Recreation to sell wine at the Farm to Fork event on August 26th. The motion to approve was made by Alderperson Akers and seconded by Alderperson Sarian. All council members voted in favor. The council also approved the annual parade license for the Greenfield High School Student Senate to conduct a parade on September 20, 2026, from 5 to 6 PM, waiving the license fee as per historical practice. The motion to approve was made by Alderperson Kastner and seconded by Alderperson Bailey, with all members voting aye.
