Herriman City Awaits State Decision on Pioneer Day Fireworks

Herriman City is awaiting a decision from the state on whether fireworks will be permitted for Pioneer Day, following a statewide ban effective until July 21st. The state forester is monitoring monsoonal moisture levels, hoping for enough precipitation to lift the ban. Decisions are expected soon, with the possibility of allowing fireworks if conditions are favorable. The city will disseminate the final decision through its platforms.

Herriman City Celebrates Remodeled Community Center Opening

The Herriman City community center, formerly the old city hall located on Pioneer Street, has been remodeled and reopened. This building originally served as the Lions Club, then as the city's first city hall from 1999 until 2017. The reconstruction utilized grant money, volunteer hours, and donated materials, with the basement notably built by volunteers. The remodeled space is intended for senior programming, arts programming, and general community use, aiming to be a vibrant community hub.

Juniper Canyon Trail System Expansion Enters Phase Three

Phase three of improvements at Juniper Canyon is underway, focusing on the West Trailhead. This phase will include a new parking lot west of the Mountain View Corridor off Juniper Crest Road, a restroom facility, and over a mile of additional paved trails. These upgrades will connect the eastern and western halves of the canyon, allowing continuous paved trail access from Sentinel Ridge Boulevard to Juniper Crest Road. The bike jump park will be closed during most of this construction but is expected to be improved and reopened, potentially in the spring after paving is completed.

Herriman City Begins City-Wide Asphalt Preservation Treatment

Herriman City is commencing an asphalt preservation treatment project across multiple locations, involving different contractors and pavement types. The objective is to maintain pavement in good condition, extending its lifespan and maximizing the value of the initial paving investment. Residents will be notified via email or door notices if their street is affected, with instructions to move vehicles to allow for road closure, resurfacing, and drying. While an inconvenience, residents are noted as being cooperative.
