City Council Approves Rezoning for High-Density Residential Development

The city council considered a rezoning petition to change a 0.15-acre parcel from industrial to high-density residential R4. The property is located at 929 9th Street Drive Northeast. The applicant, Legacy Homebuilders NC, represented by Vitali Gladish, intends to demolish existing structures and build duplexes. The future land use plan designates the area for high-density residential, and staff found the application consistent with the comprehensive plan. The Planning Commission recommended approval unanimously (8-0) after a hearing where no one spoke in opposition. The city council also approved the rezoning unanimously.
