Proposal to Convert 29th Court South to One-Way Street Due to Parking Congestion
A citizen complaint regarding parking on both sides of 29th Court South has led to a proposal to make the street one-way from Central Avenue to Crescent. The current two-way street with parking on both sides restricts the ability for vehicles to pass each other. Property owners on the street have been contacted, with no complaints received and one email in support. Both OS and the Bell Center have no opposition. The pavement width is approximately 20 feet, which is insufficient for two lanes of traffic and two parked cars on each side.
Opioid Settlement Funds Proposed for Safe and Healthy Homewood Summer Program
The council discussed a request to use opioid settlement funds for Safe and Healthy Homewood for the period of July 1st to September 30th, 2026. These funds have not been used previously. Safe and Healthy Homewood, part of the school system, plans to use the funds to hire staff to prepare their opioid program for the upcoming school year. The request aligns with the strict criteria for opioid settlement fund usage. The item will be deferred to the next meeting for voting.
Retaining Wall Encroachment into Public Right-of-Way at Fontana Drive
