Lakewood City Council Reorganizes, Swears in New Members, and Certifies Election Results
The Lakewood City Council convened for a meeting that included the certification of the general municipal election results, the administration of oaths of office to newly elected council members, and the annual reorganization of the council. The meeting also addressed the placement of delinquent residential refuse accounts and unpaid citations on property tax rolls. Council Member Steve Croft was recognized for his 21 years of service. Todd Rogers and Cassandra Chase were appointed to City Council Districts 1 and 5 respectively, and Rudy Villarreal was elected to District 2. Following the election certifications, Todd Rogers was sworn in for District 1, Cassandra Chase for District 5, and Rudy Villarreal for District 2. The council then proceeded with its annual reorganization, electing Jeff Wood as Mayor and David Arellano as Vice Mayor. Several administrative items, including signature resolutions for financial records and the register of demands for the Lakewood Housing Successor Agency, were approved. Public hearings were held for delinquent residential refuse accounts and code enforcement citations, with resolutions adopted to place outstanding balances on property tax rolls. A public hearing for item 1.3 was continued to August 11th. The meeting concluded with acknowledgments of staff, community members, and outgoing Mayor Cassandra Chase.
