Marion Police Department Releases June Activity Report
The Marion Police Department reported 15 city ordinance violations, 283 criminal/traffic citations, 17 warrant arrests, 314 incidents, 259 traffic accidents, 7 DUIs, 2007 dispatched calls, 1747 emergency calls, 3674 non-emergency calls, and 178 ambulance responses in June.
Closed Session Minutes to Remain Confidential
The council voted to keep the closed session minutes from the city attorney's recommendation confidential, based on statute 5CS120/2.06, finding that confidentiality still exists. Commissioner Patton made the motion. All commissioners voted in favor except Commissioner Barwick, who voted 'yay'.
PSC Approved to Manage CDBG Housing Grant; City Contributes $20,000
The council approved a proposal from PSC Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors to manage the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) housing grant. The city will contribute $20,000 to increase the chances and amount of the grant, which is projected to be around $700,000 this year, up from previous years of about $500,000. The grant funds are used for home repairs for those in need. Commissioner Webb moved for approval, and it was seconded. All commissioners voted in favor.
City Renews Project Labor Agreement with Egyptian Building and Construction Trades Council
The council approved Ordinance 4122, renewing a 5-year project labor agreement (PLA) with the Egyptian Building and Construction Trades Council. Commissioner Webb moved for approval, and it was seconded. All commissioners voted in favor.
Civic Center Roof Repair Approved for $15,989
The council approved a quote from Bonds Roofing for $15,989 to repair a leak at the civic center roof. The repair is needed due to deterioration where the membrane flashed. This was not a budgeted item but is a critical need. A positive report indicated the main roof has several more years of life. Commissioner Steel moved for approval, and it was seconded. All commissioners voted in favor.
