Township Considers Zoning for Kennels, Hookah Bars, and Data Centers; Public Voices Concerns
The board considered proposed ordinance amendments related to kennel uses, hookah bars/smoke shops/cigar lounges, and data centers. The kennel ordinance would allow kennels and animal hospitals as special exceptions in the Light Industrial District. The hookah bar ordinance would similarly regulate these uses in the Light Industrial District. The data center ordinance, still under revision, would also permit data centers as conditional uses in the Light Industrial District, with extensive requirements for studies and evaluations. Public comment expressed strong opposition to data centers, citing concerns about corporate dishonesty, resource exploitation, and lack of community benefit.
