Fraternity Proposes Downtown Milledgeville Music Festival for Philanthropic and Economic Boost

Representatives from Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Georgia College presented a proposal for the "441 Music Festival" to be held in downtown Milledgeville, tentatively in April. The festival aims to create a safe, well-organized event that brings the community together, supports local businesses, and generates philanthropic impact for Brighter Days Ministry. The fraternity highlighted their previous experience with the "Kayline Music Festival," which generated over $100,000 in revenue and attracted 3,500 attendees. They plan to structure the 441 festival with a stronger focus on philanthropy, removing fraternity identifiers, and ensuring it is not solely a fraternity party. The event would feature college rock bands, local food vendors, and potentially integrate with existing downtown events. Economic benefits are expected through increased foot traffic and business revenue for downtown establishments. The fraternity is in the process of establishing a 501c3 nonprofit organization for the festival. Council members discussed potential integration with other events, street closures, open container policies, and the need for city coordination for police presence and cleanup. The fraternity expressed a goal to raise at least $10,000 for Brighter Days Ministry in the first year.
