Council Commends Fire and Police Departments for Joint Response to Creek Rescue Incident
Councilmember thanked the fire and police departments for their collaboration during a recent serious incident involving a downpour and a creek overflow. Young boys had jumped into the rapid creek, and despite the dangerous conditions, the police and fire departments worked together to ensure their safety, resulting in no drownings and reuniting the boys with their families. The councilmember also thanked the community for investing in equipment, training, and manpower that enabled an efficient response.
City Manager Honored; Council to Explore Ballot Measure for Northeast Side Flooding Control
Mayor and Council recognized City Manager Brooks Mitchell for being named the best city manager in Oklahoma by the City Managers Association. The council presented him with a small gift. Additionally, Councilmember Clark proposed exploring the possibility of placing a geo bond for phase one of the city's flooding control project on the northeast side onto a future ballot, noting a previous 1-cent sales tax for this purpose failed. City Manager Brooks Mitchell will reach out to the council for their thoughts on this matter, with a decision needing to be made soon if it is to be placed on the November ballot.
