The Village Board approved Resolution 26-43, authorizing a 5-year lease agreement with Complimentary Cafe MGM LLC for retail space at the Morton Grove Metro Station (8501 Lehigh Avenue). The lease includes two optional 5-year renewal terms. The cafe, owned by the late Riaz Ali and now managed by his brother Ahmad Ali and family, will offer coffee, lattes, muffins, empanadas sourced from a local bakery, and nutritious food options. The village anticipates this will enhance amenities for transit users, support the development area, and introduce a locally-owned, community-focused business.
Fire Station 4 Window Replacement Project Approved
The Village Board approved Resolution 2639, authorizing a contract with Alliance Allied Incorporated for the Fire Station 4 window replacement project. The existing windows and glass entrance systems at the 55-year-old fire station are at the end of their useful life and require replacement to improve energy efficiency, weather resistance, aesthetics, and reduce long-term maintenance costs. The project will involve removing and replacing windows and glass doors while maintaining uninterrupted emergency operations at the 24-hour station. The vote was 5-1 with one absent.
Village Approves Class 6B Tax Incentive for River Drive/Lehigh Avenue Industrial Redevelopment and Establishes Moratorium on New Applications
The Village Board considered and approved Resolution 26-41, authorizing and consenting to a Cook County Class 6B property tax rate incentive designation for the real property located at 8125-8145 River Drive and 8120-8140 Lehigh Avenue. This incentive is for the redevelopment of the site by Curve Industrial (formerly Midwest RE Acquisitions) for a BBJ Lativolo facility. The resolution outlines conditions for the applicant, including compliance with Ordinance 26-14, construction deadlines, and ongoing reporting. Village Authorizes Fuel Purchase Contract Through Cooperative
The Village Board approved Resolution 2640, authorizing the purchase of gasoline and diesel fuel from A1 or L Warren Oil Company Incorporated through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative. This is a one-year contract. The vote was unanimous with one absent.
