Oregon Village Board Meeting (7/20/26)
Published: Jul 20, 2026
Village Board Debates Expansion of ADUs and Short-Term Rental Regulations
The Village Board discussed potential ordinance changes regarding accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and short-term rentals. The Planning Commission recommended allowing ADUs in the TR6 (two-family or duplex residential) zoning district, which includes single-family homes within that district, as a step towards increasing density and providing more housing options. This recommendation is a progression from the current allowance in only the SR6 district. Concerns were raised about potential impacts on neighborhood character, especially regarding rentals, and the enforceability of regulations. For short-term rentals, a bare-bones ordinance was presented, with discussions focusing on potential restrictions like a maximum of 180 rental nights per year and a minimum stay of six nights, with the possibility of differentiating regulations based on zoning districts. The board expressed a desire to proceed cautiously with ADUs, potentially starting with the TR6 district, and to implement stricter initial regulations for short-term rentals.
Village Secures $200,000 Grant for Senior Center and Gymnasium Construction
The Village Board approved a grant agreement and use restriction agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration for $200,000 in state building commission grant funding. This funding is designated for the construction of the Oregon Area Senior Center and Community Gymnasium Project. The board also approved an amendment to the professional services agreement with Opian Architects Incorporated for furniture, fixtures, and equipment design services for the senior center project, with a fee of $51,000 plus reimbursable expenses. Additionally, a change order for Vine CM LLC was approved for additional management and procurement coordination services related to furniture, information technology, signage, artwork, and donor recognition features for the senior center project.
