Township Approves Renewed Contract with Clemus Authority for Police Data Management
Lieutenant Ryan Krebs presented an update on the Clemus Authority, which manages the police data management system. The township relies heavily on Clemus services for police and fire operations, including property management, report writing, CAD, and dispatching. The estimated annual cost for participation is approximately $39,400, with potential for a 5% annual increase. The agreement is on an annual renewal basis with a 30-day cancellation notice. The board approved entering into this agreement.
Bill Ikes Appointed to Plymouth Township Board of Trustees Following Resignation
The board voted to accept the resignation of Trustee Jen Buckley, who is moving out of Plymouth Township. They then proceeded to appoint Bill Ikes to fill the vacancy for the remainder of her term. Ikes has been a resident for over 25 years, serves on the Planning Commission, and has prior experience with township projects and election responsibilities. The appointment was made following a motion and second, with a roll call vote.
Plymouth Township Adopts New Zoning Rules for Child Care Center Outdoor Play Areas
The Board of Trustees considered and adopted text amendments to the zoning ordinance concerning outdoor play area requirements for child care centers. The amendments change the requirement from 500 square feet per child to a fixed minimum of 3,000 square feet per child care center. This change applies township-wide and aims to make regulations less restrictive while still ensuring adequate space, aligning more closely with state and neighboring community standards. The Ann Arbor Road Corridor District and general child care standards were amended.
Plymouth Township Board Approves FY2026 Budget Amendments and Carry-Forwards
The Board of Trustees approved several Fiscal Year 2026 budget amendments and carry-forwards as presented by the Finance Director. Adjustments were made for increases in medical insurance, unemployment compensation insurance, contributions to the 35th District Court, and payouts for retiring employees in various departments (Supervisor's, General Government, Parks, Police, Dispatch, Fire, Building). Decreases were noted for medical insurance in Building and Grounds due to a change in coverage. Carry-forwards were approved for projects in General Government and Fire departments. The board also recognized revenue in the General Fund from park millage reimbursements and a grant from Bosch.
Plymouth Township Formalizes Partnership with First Step for Survivor Support
The Board of Trustees approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with First Step, a nonprofit organization that provides services for domestic violence and criminal sexual conduct survivors. The MOU formalizes a continued partnership where First Step advocates assist survivors, and the township police and fire departments utilize these services. The partnership has included training for township staff on topics like strangulation identification, which has proven valuable in investigations. First Step also offers housing and animal care for survivors.
