City Forms Redlands Housing Corporation for Property Acquisition

City to Place Unpaid Weed Abatement Costs on Property Tax Roll
The City Council considered and approved Resolution 8807, which authorizes the placement of unpaid weed abatement enforcement costs totaling $2,341 as a special assessment on the 2026-2027 property tax roll. The property owner was notified and provided opportunities to resolve the outstanding balance. This action is intended to recover costs incurred by the city to address public nuisances and reduce fire hazards.
City Council Reviews and Plans Adjustments for City Clerk Compensation
The City Council is discussing the compensation for the City Clerk. The current salary was last set in April 2022. Human Resources recommends an adjustment of 6.5% to mirror increases for representative employees. Council members discussed the City Clerk's broad responsibilities, including election official duties, public-facing interactions, and departmental oversight. They explored aligning the City Clerk's salary with other positions, such as the PIO, which falls under the M75 classification. The council directed staff to return with a revised resolution, considering the M75 classification, potentially starting at step four, and tying compensation and benefits to middle management increases.
City Council Approves Amended Salary Schedule for Fire Personnel
The City Council discussed and approved Resolution 8814, amending the salary schedule and compensation plan for city employees, and rescinding Resolution 8813. The amendment corrects an administrative calculation error related to the salary schedules for the Redlands Professional Firefighters Association and Redlands Association of Fire Management employees. The error involved calculating salaries based on a standard 2,080-hour work year instead of the actual work year for personnel on 24-hour shifts. The amended resolution accurately reflects the intended rates of pay.
City Approves Contract for New Fire Station 264 Design Services
The City Council approved an agreement with PBK Architects California Inc. for architectural design services for Fire Station 264. The contract amount is not to exceed $1,486,100. The project aims to replace the current temporary modular station, which no longer meets operational safety or functional needs. PBK Architects has extensive experience, having designed over 200 fire stations, and has prior experience with the city, including renovating Fire Station 262. The new facility will be located at Heritage Park on the southwest corner. The council also determined that the project is categorically exempt from environmental review under CEQA guidelines.
