June Financial Report Shows Positive Revenue Trends
The council reviewed the June financial report presented by Finance Director Britney Baker. The general fund revenue for June was $1,741,436, with $1,098,047 from sales tax and state turnback, $43,166 from franchise fees and permits, and $338,533 from other revenue. Year-to-date for the city's half-cent sales tax was $2,951,995.53, and the city's portion of county sales tax was $2,951,995.53. Both were reported as above last year and budget projections. Street sales tax spending totaled $998,392 for drainage, pavement preservation, downtown improvements, pedestrian improvements, signal improvements, and the MSCO trail. Economic development funds saw June revenue of $172,202 and expenditures of $119,362. The capital asset fund had $418 in revenue and no expenditures. Total cash balances for the four one-cent sales tax funds at the end of June were $20,813,470.92 [cite: 61-122].
City Council Approves Six-Month Moratorium on Data Centers, Forms Study Committee
The council considered an ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, and approval of applications for data centers within the city, and establishing a temporary committee to study and recommend legislation for regulating data centers.
