Slidell City Council Elects New President and Vice President
The Slidell City Council elected new officers for president and vice president. Councilwoman Leslie Denham was nominated for vice president by Councilman Brownfield and elected by a 9-0 vote. Councilman Trey Brownfield was nominated for president by Councilwoman Denham and also elected by a 9-0 vote. The outgoing Council President, Councilman DeSanti, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve and thanked others for their hard work. Several council members welcomed the new council members and congratulated the elected officers.
Slidell City Council Approves Annexation and Corridor Commercial Zoning for Nellie Drive Property
The Slidell City Council adopted an ordinance to annex property located at 2006 Nellie Drive into the city. The ordinance also establishes a city zoning classification of CC, Corridor Commercial for the annexed parcel. The item was presented by DeSanti Brownfield at the request of the administration. The Mayor later described this project as the most important in Slidell's history, stating it will provide 100-year flood protection for the entire city and expressed the importance of keeping the project moving forward.
Slidell City Council Grants Conditional Use Permit for Children's Group Home on Clover Drive
The Slidell City Council granted a conditional use permit for a group home for temporary housing support for children. The location for the group home is 306 Clover Drive, identified as Lot 2, Forest Glen East, Addition two, Unit 3, in Section 34, Township Eight South, Range 14 East, Greensburg Land District. The item was presented by DeSanti Brownfield at the request of the administration. The council voted 9-0 to adopt the ordinance.
