Waco City Commission Approves Allowing Manufactured Homes in RE Zoning District
The City of Waco proposed amendments to Chapter 28 (Zoning) of the Code of Ordinances to allow HUD code manufactured homes as a permitted use by right in an RE zoning district, updating definitions and supplementary regulations. This is to comply with Texas Senate Bill 785, which requires cities to allow manufactured homes by right in at least one zoning district. The proposal includes updating the definition of HUD code manufactured homes and designating the RE zoning district (rural residential) as the location for this permitted use. Currently, manufactured homes are special uses in the RE district. The amendment removes them from the special use section and adds them as permitted uses. The commission recommended approval.
City Plan Commission Approves Land Use and Rezoning for South New Road Property
The City Plan Commission considered a land use and zoning change for a 18.687-acre portion of a property at 2300 South New Road. The request was to change the future land use from medium density residential office flex to mixed-use flex and rezone from R3C to R3D. This is part of a larger parcel rezoned in 2024. The commission approved the request, with one member expressing excitement for a Waffle House to be established there.
City Plan Commission Approves Changes to Historic Landmark Preservation Commission Membership Criteria
The City Plan Commission considered an ordinance amendment to Chapter 28, Article 10 of the Code of Ordinances, specifically Section 28-1134, concerning the criteria for members of the Historic Landmark Preservation Commission (HLPC).
